STRIVE HOCKEY

Off-Season Training That Shows Up When the Puck Drops. Strength. Speed. Power. Hockey IQ. For athletes ages 8-17.

Strive Hockey | Off-Season Training Program | Strive Fitness and Athletics

The Program

Most hockey players train hard on the ice and hope it is enough. The athletes who separate themselves do the work nobody sees.

Strive Hockey is a complete off-season development system starting July 6, 2026. Every session starts with 30 minutes of physical and mental preparation — dynamic warm-up, mobility, prehab, coordination, brain training, and a daily habit-building focus. The remaining 60 minutes are structured, periodized training that progresses across three distinct phases.

Athletes are tested on day one, coached through every rep, and re-tested at the end to prove their progress. The numbers do not lie.

July 6–24 — Weeks 1–3

Strength & Athleticism

Build the foundation. Master movement patterns, develop general strength, and establish the training habits that everything else is built on. Tempo work, controlled loading, earning the right to progress.

July 27 – Aug 14 — Weeks 4–6

Power & Speed

Convert strength into explosiveness. Sprint mechanics, plyometrics, Olympic lift progressions, and contrast training. This is where athletes start to feel the difference on the ice.

Aug 17–28 — Weeks 7–8

Specificity & Conditioning

Apply everything to hockey. Speed squats, rotational power, lateral explosiveness, repeated sprint ability, and game-ready conditioning. Walk into tryouts prepared.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ages is the program for?

We run programming for athletes ages 8 through 17, organized by Hockey Canada's LTPD age groups (U9, U11, U13, U15, U18). Each group receives training appropriate to their developmental stage. Our dryland camps also serve ages 6–8.

My child has never done off-ice training. Is this too advanced?

Not at all. Every athlete starts with a baseline assessment and technique-first coaching. Younger athletes (U9–U13) are in game-based and bodyweight programs. We meet athletes where they are and build from there.

What does a typical session look like?

Every session starts with a 30-minute physical and mental preparation block (warm-up, mobility, prehab, coordination, brain training). The remaining 60 minutes are structured training based on where we are in the 8-week periodization cycle. Athletes are tested in week one and re-tested at the end to prove their progress.

Is the Academy Day price affected by ice costs?

The $399 price is based on days when we have free ice access. On days requiring rented ice, pricing may increase unless offset by grants from Hockey Calgary, Hockey Alberta, or similar bodies. We are actively pursuing grant funding to keep costs accessible.

Do you offer sibling discounts?

Yes. Second child in the same family receives 10% off any package, stackable with early-bird pricing.

Can I start with online and upgrade later?

Absolutely. Start with online access and upgrade to the full program or academy days at any time. We will prorate the difference.

Where is training held?

Strive Fitness is located at Unit #116-10450, 50 Street SE, Calgary, Alberta (within the Calgary South West United Soccer Facility). Ice sessions are held at partner rinks based on availability.
